Creating software to keep you moving when the world stopped, with Overlly

What felt like overnight, the world changed - and we were all forced indoors. This left a real gap in people's lives to get active and left fitness instructors without work. Overlly launched in response to this - building a platform for instructors to schedule, take payments and live stream classes, and for users to join in, simply and remotely. We’ve been working with Overlly to create a brand that inspires movement and creates a community, building up relationships and giving people a new way of keeping fit in a way that fits in with any lifestyle.
The Brand
The brand needed to feel modern, clean, and powerful but with space and opportunity for an instructor to build a profile and platform that was uniquely their own. This concept explores the idea behind the suffix 'ly' - meaning, 'recurring at intervals' which ties in with the whole idea behind Overlly - the schedule, and the repetitive nature of a weekly timetable as well as the repetitive nature of many forms of exercise - (reps, circuit training, laps). This will bring movement and fluidity into the brand, whilst also harnessing the feeling of connectivity, with circular shapes and motions.
ly : a suffix meaning “every,” attached to certain nouns denoting units of time: hourly; daily.
The App
The Overlly team came to us filled with ideas, so our first step was to distil exactly what the app needed to do. We created user flows, depicting the actions that each user type would need to take in the app. This quickly gave us a whole picture of the app. We could then focus on the most important actions, so we could simply and quickly get the platform out into the world. From here we then sketched out wireframes, before creating simple prototypes so we could start to walk through the app. This time was invaluable to really establish the best user experience, before we started designing. The app itself feels clean, simple, and minimal. We’ve used the Overlly blue to signpost the main calls to action and to guide users on their journey.
